Bethesda Cancelled Fallout 4 Multiplayer Because it Was “Distracting”

Bethesda came up with a number of multiplayer concepts while developing Fallout 4, but abandoned them all as it was deemed to be “distracting” to the player.
That’s according to the game’s director, Todd Howard. Speaking to Mashable, Howard said, "Believe it or not, every time we do a game we design a multiplayer mode just to see what we would do.”
Howard said that during the pre-production phase of Fallout 4’s development, when everyone is throwing ideas around, multiplayer modes were suggested. However, the team didn’t believe that any of the ideas would gel well with Fallout’s single-player RPG experience.
"Then we go, 'Yup, we shouldn't do that,’” he said. “‘That's an awesome idea that is way too distracting from the main thing we want to do, which is single player’. I could see ways it would work, but development-wise, they're very different experiences."
I wish more developers were like Bethesda, if it's not going to work, don't force it and focus on the Single Player. I'd rather have a decent Single Player than a bolted on Multiplayer that just don't feel like it belongs in the game *cough* Assassin's Creed *cough*

Fallout 4 is out on Xbox One, PC and PS4 from November 10th.

Some say he’s half man half fish, others say he’s more of a seventy/thirty split. Either way he’s a fishy bastard.
